Everyone’s got their undies in a bundle over that book, Fifty Shades of Grey. It’s tantalizing and all, but, really, isn’t fifty shades a bit excessive? Over at the home tome headquarters, I wouldn’t say that grey is the dominant color, but we have a few shades and we think they are rather…nifty.
For example, these knitted “poufs” (kind of like ottomans) from cb2 in the yoga studio/dance floor portion of our living room:
And this charming blow fish tea set so kindly given to us by my Aunt Margaret for our wedding:
What’s not to love about this neutral bathmat in our super-sixties guest bathroom? (Paired with a twig-themed shower curtain (also from cb2).
I picked up this basket from a street fair in Manhattan a long time ago, and it goes well with the grey laminate flooring we had installed (from IKEA, now discontinued).
Got this elephant watering can for one dollar at a local yard sale last summer:
Just have a look at this grill cozy: if that isn’t sexy, I don’t know what is:
Come to think of it, pretty much the entire exterior of our house is grey:
So take that, bestselling book! We clearly have it going on over here, too. After all, where shades of grey are concerned, isn’t it more about quality than quantity?
(Hee hee.)
Woah. Basket! Elephant! You have just proven that grey isn’t remotely boring. High fives all around! π
Why thank you – some may say that grey is sterile, but I think that is hardly the case π
I love the blowfish tea set! Do you know where your aunt got it? And score on the dollar elephant
Right? It is too cute – Anthropologie was carrying it at the time (about 3 years ago) but no longer – I did a quick google search and couldn’t find it anywhere…sorry to be such a tease! π
Grey is an oddly under rated color, dare I share? A color with both black and white undertones, neither a prime color I might add, not really found in nature(well maybe in the sky), not one of my faves…having said that…it’s a wonderful moody color:-) Silver anyone??
You know I heart me some silver! And fortunately, I am now sporting more and more of it right on my very own head!
and on animals(whales come to mind). And…you’ve got me thinking grey today:-) Blue hoo…
Yes, whales. And another that comes to mind: rats!
I love that elephant!!
Thanks – you can still get one on the internets. π I just put him to use yesterday to water some stuff. He did an excellent job.
He is adorable! I will have to look one up! Thanks!
I adore grey! I just painted the front portion of my house (interior) grey. It’s my favorite nuetral. It reminds me of a big grey boulder that welcomes you to sit down after a long hike or the pebbles under the cold water of a stream. So calming. I love that basket, too! I hope you’ll stop by and link up at our Making Space Mondays party.
